Have you ever thought about how well your tires are performing throw there life span. Well there have been resent studies just on this topic, the website Tire Rack performed a test using new tires measured in at 10/32 tread depth, and used tired with the tread depth of 4/32 and the legal minimum of 2/32. They accelerated there 06 BMW 325i test car to 70 MPH the performed a emergency stop on top of .06” of water, then recorded the distance it took to stop.

With the set of new tires on there 3400 pound 325i sedan, they got it up to speed and preformed the emergency stop. The new set of tires stopped in 195.2 feet in 3.7 seconds at 70 MPH. The Set that measured in at 4/32 tread depth stopped at the 290 feet mark at a stop time of 4.7 seconds. The last test is on the 2/32 deep tires which are state minimum preformed this test with a result of an emergence stop of 378.8 feet in 5.9 seconds.

After seeing the results of this test it is easy to see why it is so important to have a good set of tires under your BMW no mater what time of year it is.
