“It was not long ago when Detroit’s products were clustered at the bottom of the industry. Although very few automakers improved this year, the domestic ones are either steady or have lost less in customer satisfaction compared to international competition,” Claes Fornell, founder of the ACSI
The American Customer Satisfaction Index is a national economic standard based on customer evaluations of the quality of services and products in the U.S. The automotive industry is a popular area of this organization. The latest survey indicates a general decline of customer satisfaction with their vehicles; though there are better results for domestic automakers. U.S. brands show the smallest drop in satisfaction while Japanese brands have fallen the most.
GM’s Buick and Lincoln-Mercury (which is no longer in production) are the two makes that hold the top spots in this year’s survey. That means that among all the automakers in the last 18 months, customers have stated that they are satisfied the most with them. This is a first time achievement for Buick as they score 88 points out of 100 which, aside from Mercury, is the highest score.
This top spot shows Buick’s ability to continue to exhibit great quality, performance, and reliability. They have improved their vehicles year after year are only getting better at giving car buyers what they’re looking for.
