For the 2014 year Cadillac plans on introducing there first hybrid model, the 2014 ELR. This ELR was first introduced in 2011 as a concept based off of the Chevy Volt platform. Although a gas- electric hybrid the ELR will feature the classic Cadillac styling we have come to expect from this luxury car brand. The finally detail have yet to be announced as for the actual engine and setup being used.

2011 Cadillac ELR
The exterior of the Cadillac ELR is not one you normally would associate with a hybrid vehicle. With its classic vertical headlights and LED taillights, trapezoid grill, and swooping roofline reminiscent to the fastbacks of the 1960’s. To reduce drag, increases aerodynamics, and cut gas mileage down they designed the grill to be completely closed. Topping the exterior off is a sharp set of seven-spoke chrome rims and low profile tires.

Cadillac ELR Rear end
This new gas electric hybrid will be driven by an electric drive unit being powered by a T-shaped lithium-ion battery backed by a 4 cylinder electric generator. There has yet to be any word on if the generator will produce power to the wheels or not. If they do use the power plant from the Volt we can expect a 0-60 of around 9 seconds or better depending how much power Cadillac can squeeze out of it.
There is no set price for the ELR yet but is estimated to be in the $70,000 rang. This model should be hitting dealerships some time in 2014. So watch our lots here at Bill Dodge Cadillac for the future to arrive, but in the mean time come try out one of our many nice Cadillac’s out now.
